The Celestron CGEM DX 1400 EdgeHD Computerised Telescope incorporates the EdgeHD optical system with Celestron’s CGEM DX Equatorial mount. It has a wide 14” aperture and it features the StarBright XLT coating, a combination that provides you with the brightest, sharpest views of the celestial objects. Stable and Sturdy The CGEM DX™ mount is the newest member of the fully computerized Equatorial mount series. Its capable of carrying 11" and 14" optical tubes securely and dampens vibration at the same time. This is important when observing using high magnifications as even the tiniest vibrations can affect image quality. The mount is capable of slewing at 5° per second, while carrying a payload of up to 50lbs. To view all of these objects the mount has the ability to track past the Meridian for uninterrupted imaging through the most ideal part of the sky. It boasts a modern, ergonomic design with large, easy to handle knobs for easy polar alignment. Improved Software and Technology One major new feature is the innovative Polar alignment procedure called All-Star™. It allows you to choose any bright star for alignment, while the software takes care of calculating and assisting with polar alignment. It also has PPEC or permanent periodic error correction is a feature which allows the mount to train out the periodic errors in worm gears. The software installed in this computerized mount allows it to store star alignments night after night without the need for re-alignment. This feature makes it perfect for permanent observatory facilities. A database of over 40,000 celestial objects with enhanced information on 200 of them. The system can also store 100 user defined objects. Power management has been improved on the CGEM DX™ mount . The redesigned electronics allow the telescope to maintain smooth tracking and accurate slewing even when it is not perfectly balanced. Advanced Optical System The compact power of a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope that’s been enhanced by a high definition optical system. This produces high quality images with a wide field of view and when combined with its FASTAR Versatility that allows for exposure times 25 times faster at f/10, makes it perfect for astrophotography. Another feature of the EdgeHD optical system is its ability to produce aberration free images on CCD or DSL cameras. The system is designed to display and extremely flat focal plane precise enough to allow stars to be in tight focus even at the very edge of the sensor chip. The telescope comes with 2” barrel 82° Eyepiece. It provides 23mm focal length and 82° field of view, giving you an incredible combination of power a wide field of view. The eyepiece is optimized to deliver pinpoint images when used with a flat field telescope.
