    Product Description
Celestron FirstScope Tabletop Dobsonian Telescope A Portable Memorial In 1609, world-renowned Italian scientist, Galileo Galilei, introduced an elementary telescope to the growing astronomy community which sparked interest into the mysterious night sky for centuries to come. Four centuries later, in celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, Celestron offers the portable FirstScope Telescope. The FirstScope pays tribute to Galileo Galilei and many of history’s most notable astronomers and scientists by displaying their names around the optical tube. We honor the contributions of these men and women, who brought us one step closer to understanding the universe around us. Compact and Stylish The FirstScope is a wonderful keepsake for anyone interested in astronomy. This quality Dobsonian style telescope features a 76 mm aperture reflector optical tube. FirstScope is an ideal entry level astronomical telescope. It is very easy to observe with, the user simply navigates the night sky by moving the tube in the direction of their desired object, making the viewing experience a snap! The compact design makes it easy enough to take with you on your next outdoor adventure. FirstScope is also stylish enough to be a decorative fixture on your bookshelf or desk.

I bought it for my sons and they loved it even my husband. So easy to set up and ready to use pretty much straight away. My whole family can see the moon in close-up for the first time and it was very excited! Great product over all. Review by Mantana (Posted on 6/10/2017)

very happy with this purchase. I bought it for my child as an introduction to astronomy but I find myself using it at times I want to just want to observe for a short length of time and can't be bothered dragging my large telescope and mount outside. I'm buying another one for my niece's birthday! Review by Marnies (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    Great purchase
    Overall Score
I wasn't really sure what to expect for the price, but I'm extremely happy with the build quality. The FirstScope comes with a solid stand that helps you keep this high powered telescope stable.

One sight of the details on the moon, and I was hooked. I'm looking forward to gazing at the stars some more.

Nice simple telescope, perfect for kids
    Overall Score
I have bought two of these now...one for my child and one for a relative's child. Easy to use telescope which is very portable and provides instant viewing which is important for children who have a short attention span at times. Surprisingly good optics and provided nice clear views of the moon especially when coupled with the moon filter from the (optional) accessory kit. Review by Marnies (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    Great entry into telescopes
    Overall Score
Few years ago my son received from a grandparent a generic store telescope, it was out of alignment and a real disappointment. He remained keen and after plenty of research purchased the Celestron FirstScope Telescope. He is rapt with this telescope and its performance from our backyard at dusk and early evening, and can't wait until he is allowed to stay up until really late on a dark night. Fantastic product and we will get plenty of use from it in the future. Review by Wes (Posted on 6/10/2017)
good first scope as an introduction
    Overall Score
    very good service
brought as a gift i have no experience and wanted a product that was easy to use and would allow the user to use and explore the night sky.
it is easy to use although needs very careful focusing. and it is best used a stable base as it is very easy to knock out of line.
it is very easy to store and carry ideal for taking with you if you wish to go away from lit areas as not tripod is needed, although it is great for back yard use
has been enjoyed would recommend beginner's book to aide star searching

    Great First Scope.
    Overall Score
For somebody who has been fascinated by anything space for most of their lives and is looking at getting a telescope. I highly recommend this.

I'd never even touched a telescope before I bought this, so I thought it would be good to test the waters with this scope before moving on to something else.

Don't expect to see a great deal with this but if you're happy to look at the moon, a couple of planets and some constellations. You won't be disappointed.

Very fast delivery and great customer service.

    Excellent beginner scope
    Overall Score
looking at the stars is always something i've wanted to do and i believe this telescope allowed me to do this for a relatively good price. As i was just starting out i was told to spend $200 on a good pair of binoculars but for me spending over $100 seemed a bit much.

I can honestly say i wasn't expecting much from the firstscope but what has it shown me has me hooked.

I've seen the moons of jupiter orbiting, craters on the moon in detail i never expected, the red giant Betelgeuse flickering, orions belt, numerous globular cluster galaxies and the great nebula in orion.

All of these things were seen in the center of a city in my backyard, i cant wait to take it out to the country and get a night of clearskies!

    Ideal First Scope
    Overall Score
Fantastic as a first scope. Beware though, you will want a bigger scope once you've used this one for a couple of clear nights. Review by Tim (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    Consider binoculars
    Overall Score
Great service from Ozscopes. Firstscope arrived within days, in good condition. They even tracked down my delivery when the post office misplaced it.
Firstscope is a good kids telescope but the images are what you would expect for the price. Consider binoculars as an equally effective but more robust and portable option.

    Excellent Service & good product
    Overall Score
I bought this telescope for my 8yo son, after much research etc... I am glad I decided on this one, for the price it is excellent & allows my son to become more interested in astronomy.

The service from Ozscopes was absolute second to none - I ordered on Tuesday PM (after hours) & had received the delivery by 1pm Thursday. Less than 48 hrs later. I rang on the Wednesday to check when it would be despatched & the customer service was great - nothing was any trouble. I had the product in time for son's birthday on the Friday. I highly recommend Ozscopes!

Very pleased with the purchase of this telescope. Ordered Monday afternoon and was delivered the next day by Australia Post. Excellent value. I was also very pleased to discover that the purchase price included a donation to the Fred Hollows Foundation. Review by John Harris (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    great first scope!!!
    Overall Score
i just received my scope today, delivery was fast and efficient. Scope looks great, its light and user friendly. Manged to see Jupiter and 4 moons, not as much detail as i hoped but is expected for a scope of this size. Found jewel box cluster, it looked awesome. overall i love this scope and am glad i purchased it. Only one downside, it makes you want a bigger telescope after using this. Will definately have many nights filled with viewing awe. A++ Review by rick (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    Great......love it! Thanks Ozscopes

This is a beauty, used it the first night and was able to clearly view the craters on the moon!!!! Cannot wait to find the planets. Very easy to purchase and delivery was swift. Thanks again. Review by Wendy Macdonald (Posted on 6/10/2017)
    Great Telescope
    Overall Score
Telescope was received in good order and well packaged. It is a fun scope and very easy to use. The 15X is great for general usage as well as land based viewing and the maximum power allowed me to see jupiter and its moons. It is very easy to set up and use and will be a lot of fun as it can be taken out and pointed very quickly. The optics are sharp in the centre and only taper off at the edges slightly as would be expected for this type of scope. An amazing telescope for the price. Review by Barry Moore (Posted on 6/10/2017)
Good start but need better eyepieces
    Overall Score
This was a present for our 8 year old daughter. She's thrilled to have a telescope but a little disappointed with what she can actually see. I think we need an eyepiece with greater power and wider scope. I know there is an extra pack you can buy but I note a reviewer on one of the sites I read suggested saving your money and just buying a good extra eyepiece.
