    Summary
    Celestron SkyProdigy 130 Computerized Telescope

Celestron SkyProdigy Telescope is one of the smartest telescope available in the market now, a product created from decades of optical research and enhancements. Integrated with Celestron's ground breaking technology, Skyprodigy Telescope is a truly revolutionary telescope which do not require any astronomy knowledge to use it, simply turn it on, push a button and wait for few minutes, you can enjoy the view like an astronomer.

In order to automatically align with the sky and determine the direction of the telescopes currently pointing at, Celestron's Skyprodigy Telescopes use an integrated imaging camera with patented StarSense technology to capture an image of the sky, which then processed internally to identify the stars in the image. Once a match is found, this SkyProdigy Telescopes will determine the coordinates of the center of the captured image. This process will run for three times so the SkyProdigy system has three known alignment points, then user can select any celestial object in the hand controller's database, the telescope will automatically move to the correct position.

*The integrated imaging camera DOES NOT have an external output for user to view or save the captured images. The captured images are only for the purpose of automatic aligning.

This SkyProdigy 130 Telescope is a f/5 fast telescope, offers a wide view and strong light gathering abilities to produce bright images and the clarity you need to view a range of deep sky objects. If you know nothing about astronomy and more interested in Astrophotography, this SkyProdigy 130 will be the perfect Telescope for you!

Featuring all the right options you need as an astronomer, its no wonder this telescope has won the Design & Engineering Showcase Honors in 2011 and the Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Awards in 2011.

It took us much longer then we thought to set it up. Latitude/longitude settings were wrong so we had to use a tablet to get the correct ones. Once that was done it was easy to align and to find the stars. I think we will have to buy a better eyepiece to get a full use of this telescope but so far it has been good fun. Alkaline D batteries seem to be OK but we intend to buy a separate power pack. (Posted on )

Good but sensitive - Review by

The Star Finder alignment process is extremely sensitive to passing light sources such as cars. Try to find a completely dark place and then it works beautifully. The batteries are hard to get in rechargeables and the power draw is very high. My A batteries in a D adapter only lasted about 15 minutes! Had to buy alkalines. (Posted on )
