Nice first telescope - Review by
    Overall Score
    80
Total beginner, I wanted something easy to carry, decent quality, easy to use for planet, deep sky and stars observation in my garden (countryside).
And it was a really good choice.

I use it like a "grab and go" when the sky is clear. Take off one screw, going outside, put back that screw and that's it.
The observation of the moon is stunning, I can easily spot the white shade around Orion's Nebulaes, noticing the blue colors of the Pleiades,... didn't get the chance to see Jupiter or Saturn yet but still awesome.

The tripod (EQ2) is quite solid, a bit heavy for stability and easy to pack.
The mount is easy to install, the Azimut adjustment are really smooth with slow motion. Altitude adjustment T-bolt is a bit rough. (only cons I can find)

I really recommend it like a first telescope and for it's portability.

Shipping took 10days. A bit longer than expected but the package was intact.

The service from ozscope is great and it actually helps in making my order on this telescope. I am very happy with this 102 mak, however i have to get extra eyepiece for better viewing as it only come with 10 and 25mm.
    Thanking you.

Fantastic little scope - Review by
    Overall Score
    80
I have had the 102 mak for a number of years now and I must say it is a fantastic little scope. It is probably the scope I use the most and I own quite a few. I originally bought it for portability given its small size and I find that that aspect is what makes it so usable. That and the ease of setting up. If you follow the instructions carefully then you should have little trouble.

This scope excels in lunar and planetary observation as its long focal length allows a lot of magnification. The views of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn are stunning.

That aside, it is also good at resolving deep sky objects and from a dark site or under good urban skies, many objects are clear and that includes globular clusters and brighter galaxies.

I also use this scope for photography, afocally that is holding a camera up to the eyepiece and also connecting a dslr camera to the scope.

The only downside for this scope is that it is small and so the deep sky images can be dark but don't let this stop you from buying this scope. It will keep you more than happyfor a long time.

A great first scope as well as one for someone who wants to downsize for portability.
