Better than I expected! - Review by

At first, thanks to OzScopes for amazing service, speed of the delivery and communication as well. At second, this telescope is the best choice what you can make if you are starting with stargazing and you realy want to explore and see the beauty hidden up there. Get more eyepices after your first observing to get closer (that is what I did) and you are ready! Absolutely clean and crisp image (Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, detailed observing of surface of the Moon) and as far from the lights you will be as much you will see (Nebulas, Comets, etc).
Excellent quality of telescope, no plastic crap from China, this is something, what can stay with you for ages...You will not be disapponinted! 10/10

Built Well, Works well. highend scope for amatures - Review by

i had original planned on buying an 8 inch dob but ended up geting this as it was on sale for 750 at a local closing store in perth. although i didnt buy from oz scopes its a great site!

Building the mount took about 20 mins, easy enough to do no probs. the quality of the parts was great , more than i expecting. there was 8 heavy gauge screws holding the base together!!!

on that same night i was able to view Jupiter and its moons as well as the orion nebula all with the eye pieces supplied
quality of the parts and viewing was A+

only down side is how heavy the whole thing is (as a whole) if the scopes detached its probably a different story, but this just adds to the rugged build quality of the base

A truly great first telescope - Review by
    Overall Score

I received this telescope for my 21st birthday, and it turned out to be a lot better than I had expected it would be. After reading the manual, I was sure getting it ready to use for the first time would be a chore, trying to get the thing properly collimated etc. But the first time I set it up, pointed It at some street lights a few K's away and aligned the finderscope, I could already see the picture was crisp and just perfect.

We then pointed it at Jupiter and what we saw was amazing: you could clearly see the clouds of Jupiter, and 4 of its moons, it was beautiful!

I've yet to take it out for a proper nights stargazing, but I'm sure when we do, we'll be just as impressed as we were this first time.

The only minor problem I had was that the bearings needed to be a lot tighter than I understood the instructions said they should be to stop it from dropping the front while aligning it. It would be nice if it were more balanced, I'm not sure how well this thing will cope when I try attaching my SLR to it.

If you're looking for a first time telescope and you can afford this one, go for it, you will not regret it.
